AB 1634 is the statewide mandatory spay and neuter bill proposed for California. It passed the Assembly Appropriations Committee by a 9-7 vote on May 16, 2007 and heads next to the full assembly for a vote.

AB 1634 would negatively impact owners of show, working, performance, and assistance dogs. It would apply to every city and county in California, without exception. It is imperative that you get involved now and voice your opposition to this bill by contacting your state representative. New Jersey bill S1026 http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2006/Bills/S1500/1026_I1.HTM requiring that all animals being adopted or returned to owners from shelters must be spayed or neutered, except if the reclaiming owner can prove that the animal has been shown in the last twelve months.
 
This bill has now moved to the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee….
